Winnipeg Police Service Quarry Course

This is a two day course being offered by the WPS K9 Unit for officers seeking a career as an K9 Handler. The course is mostly classroom lectures and designed for anyone involved in K9 training. This is a great course for both experienced and new handlers.





The course will cover:



*Quarry job description, expectations, and values;

*K9 drives and psychology;

*Back up officer roles and safety;

*Theory of Scent and Tracking;

*Aggression, Apprehension, & Bitework;

*Handler down & K9 first aid;

*Interdiction and drug dog detector program;

*K9 perimeters & containment;

*Quarry safety
